PTMHOFF Trustee Howie Patterson Passes Away
October 20, 2015
Howard Alexander “Howie” Patterson Jr., a trustee of the Platform Tennis Museum and Hall of Fame Foundation from 2004-2012, passed away at the age of 80 on September 30 in Norwalk, CT. A longtime resident of New Canaan, Darien, and Norwalk, Mr. Patterson was an avid player of the sport and will be remembered as a fierce competitor during years of play at Darien’s Middlesex Club and Woodway Country Club.
A three-sport star including tennis at both the Kent School in Kent, CT, and Williams College in Williamstown, MA, during the 1950s, Mr. Patterson was also a renowned architect who founded Patterson Architects, Inc., in Darien in 1972.
“As our architect and design expert, Howie was a great resource for the Platform Tennis Museum and Hall of Fame Foundation in the early years, and he remained interested in our progress after becoming an Emeritus Trustee,” said PTMHOFF trustee Joseph Rogers.
