MashUp Fundraiser Combines Platform Tennis and Squash

November 29, 2017
North Andover, MA

Mash upThe fifth annual SquashBusters Lawrence MashUp, on Sunday, December 10, includes a platform tennis competition at North Andover Country Club, featuring teams from NACC, Concord Country Club, The Country Club, and Dedham Country and Polo Club/Weston Golf Club. Each team is headed by two pros fighting for bragging rights and the largest team donation. Some of the nicest men in our sport signed on—Johan du Randt, Bill Anderson, Scott Staniar, Thomas Nolan, Adam Gart, Genius Chidzikwe, Bill Power, and Karl Gregor. There will be two round robins – one in the morning, and one in the afternoon. After each set of matches, the pros will put on an exhibition, which always features crazy shot-making and lots of laughs.

At noon, head to the Brooks School for a squash competition and party. Some of the best squash pros—Thierry Lincou, Wael El Hindi, Shahid Zaman Khan, and Arthur Gaskin—and their teams will be competing, along with the SquashBusters students, and players from Brooks and Phillips Academy. It’s a great day of sport and goodwill.

SquashBusters serves more than 300 students in Boston and Lawrence, offering a sports-based afterschool youth development program. Students are introduced to the game of squash, which is used as a springboard for developing life skills for success. All SquashBusters participants have the goal of completing college, giving back to their community, and adopting health and fitness into their lifestyle. SquashBusters is currently in its twenty-second program year, and the program expanded to Lawrence in 2012. The MashUp is one of its largest fundraisers.

We all know a great squash shot in the corners is what differentiates the paddle pros from the common players. Come support this event, watch some amazing paddle and squash, and support a group of youth players who could be the future of both sports.

For more information, go to https://squashbusters-mashup-2017.rallybound.org. Donations can be made on this page. For more information or to learn more about playing in the event, contact Dora Lubin, Executive Director, at d.lubin@squashbusters.org.
