single-blog

The APTA is sad to report that Robert “Bob” Brown recently passed away. Bob was inducted into the Platform Tennis Hall of Fame in 1996, noted for earning 21 golds and 18 silvers in various Masters Nationals, serving 20 years on the Hall of Fame Committee, and chairing the Platform Tennis Museum and Hall of Fame. He also served as the President of the APTA Board.

Bob was a member at Fox Meadow Tennis Club in Scarsdale, NY, the birthplace of platform tennis. He started playing the game at the age of 40 and made it a goal to win as many tournaments as possible.

Bob championed innovations for platform tennis, including yellow balls and foot fault rules. Read more about Bob Brown’s contributions to the sport in his Platform Tennis Hall of Fame biography.

The APTA sends its deepest condolences to Bob’s family and friends and to his paddle constituents around the country.
