Men's Finalists Dave Dinehart - Ricky Hart
Women's Finalists Dottie Hart - Sue Pijawka
Tournament Director Wes Dinsel writes: We kicked off the paddle season with an amazing day of preseason fun, shaking off the rust and jumping right into some friendly but competitive matches! For the sixth year in a row, the Unionville High School (UHS) Habitat for Humanity Campus Chapter joined forces with the UHS Paddle Club to help organize the annual Non-PTI Paddle Fundraiser Tournament. It was a huge success.
Together, we raised over $5,000 for Habitat for Humanity Chester County! The turnout was fantastic with 8 men’s teams and 18 women’s teams hitting the courts at Radley Run Country Club (RRCC), Concord Country Club (CCC), and Kennett Country Club (KCC). A big thank you to Radley Run for hosting a wonderful buffet lunch that everyone enjoyed and for being such a great partner in this event.
We’re so grateful to Sarah Dinsel, Ron Pinsky, and Jeremiah De Rose for volunteering their time to organize and run the brackets. Thanks also to our silver sponsors, Nancy Jones, Scott Amsbaugh, and Ricky Haug, for their generous support. A special shoutout goes to the Mid-Atlantic Platform Tennis Association (MAPTA) for once again making a major contribution— your continued support means so much.
The matches were fantastic! In the all-RRCC men’s final, James Lacy and Evan Niemkiewicz pulled out a hard-fought three-set win over David Dinehart and Ricky Hart. On the women’s side, Giselle Rosenfeld (Radley) and Katie Murphy (Merion Clicket Club) battled to a tight victory against Dottie Hart (Radley) and Sue Pijawka (Martin’s Dam Club).
Players and spectators alike enjoyed great company, friendly competition, and refreshments throughout the day. We were also honored to have Christy Kane, Director of Development and Marketing at Habitat for Humanity, join us to share more about the organization’s inspiring work.
This day launched the season perfectly, blending exhilarating paddle action and spirited fun with a powerful sense of community and shared purpose.
