Growing the Sport

New Tools - Jan/Feb 2010 - Financial Calculator and Municipal Paddle Brochure!
The Growth Committee of the APTA assists local enthusiasts across the country (and world) in developing platform tennis programs and building courts.
Assistance can include grant money toward building courts, as well as written pieces covering “why paddle?,” financial justifications, technical specs, past proposals for club or park boards, past APTA grant proposals and informative histories of successful projects.
The Committee also offers pro-bono personal assistance to organizers by way of liaisons who can shepherd organizers all the way through the process. Each liaison has personal experience in growing platform tennis in his or her own location.
We urge you to take advantage of these resources as the APTA carries out one of its major missions – to grow the sport!

APTA Court Grants Proving Successful in Growing the Game
Mindful that a stated mission of the APTA is to grow the great sport of Platform Tennis, as well as the quandary that it’s hard to justify courts if you don’t yet have players, and yet it’s hard to attract new players if you don’t have courts for them to play on, the Board of Directors of the APTA decided several years ago to experiment with a Grant Program. The concept was and is to solicit proposals for grants to help build publicly accessible platform tennis courts in areas where the sport has great growth potential. More |
