B Rankings and B National Championships

|All players must be current APTA members. Join the APTA|
|ELIGIBILITY - All APTA members rated below 5.5, who are not rated in the top 50 men’s or the top 30 women’s teams nor won two main draw matches in a row at an NRT (rated higher than 1.5), are eligible to play in the B Nationals.
B RANKINGS - Dave Broderick, APTA board member and Head Racquets Professional at New Jersey’s Short Hills Club, is spearheading the B national ranking system. B players will gain ranking points at APTA sanctioned B events, culminating in a final season national B ranking. The top two results for teams will determine year-end ranking, using the same formula as for standard national rankings. (Teams playing only the B Nationals and no other B event will not qualify for a season-end National Ranking.)
SELF-RATING - B Nationals welcomes players rated below 5.5. The APTA has a self-rating tool on the website to assess your level. Take the two-minute test regarding your paddle tennis skills. You will receive an email with your rating and great tips on ways to improve your game—and your rating.
APPROVAL - The newly formed B Tournament Committee will review results of all B events to determine eligibility for the first year-end B rankings. Teams must play two events to qualify for a season-end national B ranking. All teams participating in the B Nationals in March must be approved by the B Tournament Committee prior to the event. Players or teams who do not meet the B criteria will be ruled ineligible.
DESTINATION B NATIONALS - For every pro and top-flight player, there are dozens of B players who want to climb the B rankings and vie for their own National Championship. Start hitting B tournaments near you, and get ready for paddle’s own March Madness!
