Members Give Feedback on New Web Site
APRIL 13, 2008
3/15: "Have you visited the “new and improved” (like all products these days) APTA web site yet? If you have not, please take a few minutes to do so. Also be sure that, after your visit, you respond to the survey, which asks which of the three editions you like the best. There has been only a small sampling so far but the new site is winning. And it should. First, the graphics are better than the earlier version. Somehow they have made it seem more welcoming. The color is light and pleasing to the eye. Second, the navigation is well laid out. The menu takes you where you want to go to get the information that made you want to visit. Finally, the material is interesting and informative. Maybe you don’t want to spend all the time it would take to go through the entire presentation at one visit but there is something there, which you might see which you may decide to look into later. 2/15: "... having been recently informed that the "beta / proof of concept" site will not reflect the look and feel of the actual final site, I find it hard to understand how the APTA board directed the project to proceed in this manner... I believe your rating of the APTA's web initiative should be an "Ad-Out" not an "Ad-In"."
2/2: "...having reviewed most of the videos on YouTube now regarding paddle, I've selected several for sending folks who have expressed an interest in our sport. They were quite taken by them."
1/29: "The Beta site is terriffic. "
1/15: "The beta site has made a good start and here’s hoping that the new APTA site can live up to its promise."
12/31: "thanks for the update and the new site looks fantastic. Thanks for getting the Hall of Fame info on the site…that has been a long and tedious process, so it's great to see it come to life, so to speak….well done!"
12/30: "The video is very good."
12/30: "I just spent some time poking around the beta site this morning. Thanks for making the slide presentations of the Viking Junior Tour."
12/29: "the APTA is the governing body of the sport, and the website should reflect that. It should not be extolling hitting people. It should be a professional looking and sounding website rather than read like someone's blog."
12/29: "Very well done. Congratulations and thank you for doing this."
12/28: "I've been cruising around the APTA website, and first of all must say that I think it is going to be (and is) very good. I just hope that mechanisms are or will be in place to keep things up to date down the road. Enjoyed watching a couple of the videos. I'll have to sit my wife down."
12/28: "Great Job! You took some fantastic pictures of my son in Winnetka (2 on slide show) and I would love to get them if possible....happy to pay, contribute, etc.? "
12/27: "Nice job!.. Gettin' into the 21st century. "
12/27: "For a while I also thought the lateral design was odd. But I have come to like it. Either way the user is going to have to scroll on the Hall of Fame section. The lateral scrolling is a new way of doing Web design, for sure, and is a little outside of the box. But as this is a "timeline" design, I like the lateral nature of it."
12/26: "Meanwhile, very gratifying to now observe the flurry of activity, and various messages, on the HOF website and the overall APTA website. Keep up the good work."
12/26: "Great website and incredible information and videos! Thanks for the Hall of Fame and pics. "
12/24: "I am very pleased to see that the "Virtual Platform Tennis Hall of Fame" has been posted."
12/23: "Thanks for all your time and effort on the HOF website project. I think we are working toward something really fantastic!"
12/23: "Great job! The time line looks fantastic! That was an excellent idea."
12/23: "I like the links, as well, to articles you provided. Indeed, links in the future might be very cool - like a link to a video of So-and-So playing a big point; or a video of an interview. The Web is moving so fast."
12/16: "AD IN- The instructional video by Peter Berka on the APTA beta site. It is rare for me to applaud something on the APTA web site but this piece earned "putting my hands together" as they say in show business.
