2016 Cincinnati CharitiesThe Cincinnati paddle community held two events recently that provided great fun and competition for players while raising money for worthwhile causes.

The first event, Fall Into Paddle, was a casual, social way for women to kick off the paddle season on October 21. Players were paired with partners of similar ability in a round robin format. The event benefitted the Tiffany Foundation, a non-profit organization that aids women who are fighting breast cancer. Thank you to Hyde Park Country Club and Kenwood Country Club who hosted the event, and the sponsor, the Greater Cincinnati Platform Tennis Association. Thank you also to Corie Floth, the Executive Director of The Tiffany Foundation.

2016 Cincinnati Charities CheckThe second event was the 2016 Cincinanati Charities Mixed Platform Tennis Tournament, held on November 12th at area clubs including Glendale Lyceum, Hyde Park Country Club, Wyoming Golf Club, and Cincinnati Sports Club. The proceeds this year went to the Cincinnati chapter of the Boys Hope Girls Hope organization (BHGH), which provides educational opportunities and stability to motivated, underserved youth through residential and community-based programs. According to Denise Bosma, who, along with Laurie Laubacher Clark and John McConnaughey, presented the $2,200 raised to the BHGH scholars, “each scholar touched our hearts as they shared their gratitude and goals for the coming year.”

This event is fun but also competitive. The winners of each bracket included:

Tyler Fraser and Brandi Allen, who defeated last year's champions, Michael Todd and Barb Kelly, in the finals.
Denise Bosma and Jason Gray won the Quarterfinal Reprieve.
Olivia Capanni and Todd Wise won the Consolation bracket
Laurie Clark and Mike Lally won the Last Chance bracket.

100% percent of the proceeds of the tournament went directly to BHGH. Thank you to all of the donors, including:
McAllister's Deli
Alpine Water
Mark Keebe with Total Platform Tennis
Diamond Quality Clean
The GCPTA
Jason Gray with Ohio Eagle Distributing

Without these donors, the gift to Boys Hope Girls Hope would not have been possible.
