News and Draws
In addition to providing an outstanding National Championship, Tim McAvoy and his committee have raised significant sponsor money and have committed to proving support to several worthwhile charities that resonate with them in a number of ways.
1 + 1 = $5,000
In conjunction with the tournament fundraising, platform tennis friends gathered together to raise additional funds for CURE by making pledges to be multiplied by the number of sets won by Suzanne Batten and Marina Ohlmuller. Suzanne and Marina won a total of 7 sets, raising an additional $5,000 for CURE.

Tracking Marina & Suzanne's Sets
As an additional fundraising challenge, Kathy Dodd has gathered friends across the paddle community to pledge small sums of money for each set won by the seeded team of Marina Ohlmuller and Suzanne Batten. We are tracking their sets as the tournament advances.
Suzanne & Marina's set total for the tournament was 7. Thank you to everyone for your pledges.
Kathy's Letter:
Dear Fellow Paddle Players and friends,
Next weekend, the national paddle tournament will be held in Philadelphia . Players from across the country (including our favorite pro's Suzanne Lemery and Marina Ohlmuller) will compete for #1 ranking in the country.
This year, the National APTA has decided to give back to the community as part of the annual tournament and money raised as part of the tournament will be given to worthy charities. One of the charities that has been selected is CURE, Citizens United for Research in Epilepsy. As many of you know, my daughter Stacy has epilepsy and has been significantly impacted by repeated and recurring seizures.
To help with the fundraising, we’re asking paddle players and friends across the country to ‘sponsor’ Marina and Suzanne in their quest to be #1!
We’re looking for paddle players and friends to make a small pledge of money for each set won by Marina and Suzanne throughout the tournament. Pledge amounts could range from $1 a set up to $20-$25 a set. We anticipate Suzanne and Marina will play no more than 5 matches so their total # of sets they likely will win will be around 10-15. A pledge of $1 a set, would amount to a donation of about $10-15. All money received through this effort will be donated directly to CURE.
In addition, each person who makes a pledge will be entered in a drawing to receive a free Harrow paddle racquet donated by Harrow Sports. 2 winners will be selected.
If you are interested in participating, please send an email to Kathy Dodd at kmdodd@ameritech.net with the amount you will sponsor and your contact information. We will provide updates throughout the weekend of how Suzanne and Marina are doing.
We appreciate your consideration. In addition to sponsoring a wonderful organization, your sponsorship will also support 2 amazing paddle players hoping for big things in the tournament!
Thank you. Kathy Dodd
